About The Jerusalem Development Authority
The Jerusalem Development Authority (JDA) was established in 1988 by a special law. The JDA is a statutory authority defined as a joint government/municipal corporation. It is under the authority of the Minister of Finance, the Minister for Jerusalem Affairs and the Mayor. The JDA has a council made up of 37 members, most of whom are representatives of the government (public sector employees), the municipality (elected officials and employees) and the public. The JDA has many varied functions: to initiate activities and prepare plans for the economic development ofJerusalem. to encourage economic initiative for the development of Jerusalem. to coordinate between the government ministries, authorities and bodies dealing with the development of Jerusalem. to provide information with respect to all matters connected with the economic initiative, plans and enterprises in Jerusalem. to advise and assist in all matters connected with the planning and establishment of economic enterprises in Jerusalem, especially with respect to the procedures required by law for this At the Forefront of Many Major Projects In the 20 years of its existence, the Jerusalem Development Authority (JDA) has been at the forefront of many major projects, striving towards the goal of promoting and developing Jerusalem in every possible sphere and ensuring that the planning matches the city's population growth and needs. JDA's activities have been instrumental in accelerating the development of the city, and have assisted, in cooperation with other bodies - the Jerusalem Municipality, government ministries, and other public bodies, in elevating Jerusalem to the status that it deserves as the capital of the State of Israel. Within the framework of JDA's activities, major urban complexes and model residential neighborhoods have been built in Jerusalem. The city's appearance has been improved, modern industrial and hi-tech areas have been developed, and an infrastructure and road system has been set up that has changed patterns of life in the city.
