The planned employment and hi-tech park is expected to include 270,000 sq.m. of space on a 30 dunam site owned by the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
The JDA, the Jerusalem Municipality, and the Hebrew University have led planning for the project, including a tender won by the Gav-Yam company, which will establish the park, market rental spaces, and manage the facility for a period of 49 years, with an option to extend the period by an additional 49 years. The park will be established in two stages. The first stage will include three buildings with a total area of 127,000 sq.m., and the second will include an additional tower with a total area of 140,000 sq.m.
HUJITECH is the first project of its kind in Israel facilitating direct integration and interfaces between research on the Safra Campus and the companies based in the park. One of the main advantages of the park will be the unique ecosystem on the Safra Campus, which features a combination of the knowledge, human capital, and high-quality physical infrastructures with the entrepreneurial and creative spirit of the hi-tech and bio-tech companies. This will encourage maximum exploitation of the working environment on the campus, to the benefit of both the companies and academia.
The establishment of the park is expected to create approx. 5,000 new jobs.
