In cooperation with Israel Railways and the Jerusalem Municipality, the JDA promoted the development of the old railroad station, which had the status of a national conservation site. The station was preserved and developed as a new culture, entertainment, and leisure compound attracting
a large number of visitors.

The railroad station, which was built over 120 years ago, is now situated in the heart of a lively and dense urban fabric close to the Train Track Park. The station is situated at an important intersection of urban routes – Gehinnom Valley, the Sultan’s Pool, the Cinematheque, the Khan Theater and Train Theater, and so forth.

The First Station is situated within walking distance of the Old City, Mamilla Boulevard, and the intersection of two key entertainment areas in the city – the German Colony and Talpiot. The location of the First Station at the center of Jerusalem’s tourism and cultural axis makes it a bridge between neighborhoods and communities. The site is a convenient meeting point for any stroll or outing in the heart of Jerusalem, and a focus for joint creativity with the surrounding neighborhoods and with all sections of the local community.
