The JDA has identified an opportunity to improve the connection between the Circle Jerusalem bike path (with a length of approx. 42 km) between Emek Refaim and Emek Motza by utilizing the Hagihon Tunnel, which currently carries a sewage line leading to Sorek sewage treatment plant.
In accordance with JDA’s vision, the construction of the bike path through the tunnel will make an additional section accessible to the general public, and not only to experienced cyclists. The tunnel is around 2.1 km long; its southern entrance is situated under Ein Lavan in Refaim Park, while its northern entrance is situated in Nahal Ein Kerem, about 500 m from Kerem intersection.
